4 Modes of Use
Telemarketing Mode: Blocks telemarketers without even ringing your phone. Also plays a brief no solicitation message to turn away telemarketers. Callers may leave a message on your home answering system.
Do-Not-Disturb Mode:
All callers are silently directed to your home answering machine. Urgent callers are requested to press a button to ring through.
Caller ID Mode: Phones will ring once as you receive Caller ID data on your Caller ID display. After this your caller is screened like the telemarketing mode.
Standby Mode: When TeleBouncer is in the standby mode, no call screening occurs and all of your telephone products work normally.
In addition, TeleBouncer can be used as a single line Home/Office Call Attendant, allowing incoming call classification with distinctive ringing, and blocking Telemarketing calls to the Business.
While the National Do-Not-Call Registry has been generally successful, the significant Do-Not-Call Registry exemptions has only reduced the number of telemarketing calls to these households, not eliminated them. The most recent election's political calls to all households clearly reinforces the impact of such exemptions.
Thus TeleBouncer continues to have value, even to those households on the Registry, since calls from the National Do-Not-Call Registry Exemptions will be blocked. TeleBouncer will have even greater value for the larger number of consumers who have not yet listed their numbers with the Registry.

The Telebouncer TB1000 by DASYm (now defunct) does not have the downsides of these competitors:
1) Telezapper; a) battery required b) must open unit to set switch c) annoying beep each time receiver is lifted.
2) Zep 100; a) you hear every call and must pick up to determine if you want the call, then press a button to send a stop call msg.
3) Call Block Computer (JFTD); a) must program all desired and undesired ph #'s b) caller ID only shows up on the device and not on your phones c) user guide has poor rating.
The Telebouncer TB1000 has 4 settings; 1) STANDBY - your phone disregards this machine. 2) TELEMARKETING - your phone does not ring. Sends your recorded msg to dial 1, 2, up to 3 with distinctive ring tones for desired person/fax. 3) DO NOT DISTURB - only pressing the # key will make your phone ring as your msg tells callers. 4) CALLER ID - just like telemarketing BUT your phone will ring once. Caller ID will appear on all phones. Caller will hear the options you recorded under telemarketing mode. Telemarketing calls will display "unknown" "out of area" etc. Recorded calls cannot get through.
Best machine I found. No downside. Works as advertised. Ops manual is thorough and installation and operation is so easy "a cave man could do it". If you can find one buy it.

I PURCHASED A TELEBOUNCER ( TB-1000 ) ---- SEEEMED TO WORK AT FIRST , TELEPHONE LINE WAS MIGHTY QUITE . THEN FOUND OUT IT WAS BLOCKING ALL CALLS AND EVEN TOOK OVER PHONE , NOT EVEN LETTING ME CALL OUT . CALLED ABOUT A RETURN WAS GIVEN THE BIG "O" ( RUNAROUND . SO AM OUT ANOTHER ANOTHER $ 60.00 . DEFINATELY DO NOT RECCOMMEND.

I got this gizmo for my buddy and does it ever work!! The only pesky calls he gets now are when he is already on the phone(call waiting). The machine can't block in those conditions and nobody can really; but that allows the caller ID to come through so he knows who to turn into the Do NOT call registry for violating the law.
It also has a setting that will let the caller ID through, no matter who calls, but still block the calls; I've never heard the phone ring unless someone dials 1. You don't have to customize the call message unless you want to, the prerecorded one is fine, and is firm to mean business! This unit can be configured to allow the caller through to any one of three answering machine modes: on board, thru to your answering machine, thru to your voice mail; anyway you want it.
My brother now wants one of these too! It can save enough money on telephone company blocking to pay for itself in a year! I highly recommend this device for those of you who are flat fed up and about to explode over @&%# dang telemarketers!!!!!
